[Podcast] HaystackID in the EDRM Illumination Zone: Yana Dashevsky, VP of Business Development
By HaystackID Staff
In this episode, listeners will get an inspiring look into the journey of Yana Dashevsky, VP of Business Development at HaystackID, from her beginnings coming to the U.S. to a leading figure in eDiscovery. Dashevsky reflects on her early days in South Florida, where she started working at McDonald’s at just 14 years old. She shares how the drive-thru became her first classroom in client engagement, teaching her the value of connecting with people, even in small moments and instilling a sense of purpose in serving others. This early experience laid the foundation for her unique approach to building lasting client relationships.
“I started doing sales when I was around 17 years old. I had a unique upbringing, and I had these targets that I wanted to achieve not just for my family but for myself. Once I entered the legal industry, there was no stopping me,” Dashevsky said to EDRM’s CEO and Chief Legal Technologist, Mary Mack, and Chief Strategy Officer, Kaylee Walstad.
She officially joined the legal space at 20, working in a multifaceted role with solo practitioners and gaining hands-on exposure to law firm operational challenges. Her realization that legal operations were evolving led her into the tech side of the industry just as eDiscovery was rising to prominence. For anyone looking to break into eDiscovery, Dashevsky offered practical advice: immerse yourself in the technology, be willing to learn every day, and develop a deep understanding of the data challenges clients face. She emphasized that this industry is “a fast-moving train and it’s not stopping.”
Dashevsky‘s ability to listen, understand clients’ needs across various departments, and offer practical, tailored advice has become her hallmark and has allowed her to build years-long client relationships. Listen to the full episode to learn more about Dashevsky’s career journey, what brought her to HaystackID earlier this year, and her favorite part about working in this tight-knit industry.
