Check out the latest episode of the EDRM Illumination Zone featuring Bryan Bellack, EVP of Business Development at HaystackID. In this insightful episode with the EDRM’s CEO and Chief Legal Technologist, Mary Mack, and Chief Strategy Officer, Kaylee Walstad, Bellack shared his remarkable journey from graduating law school to becoming a key figure in the eDiscovery world. Starting at the New York City Law Department’s World Trade Center Unit, Bellack, a tech-savvy young lawyer, was tasked with the critical eDiscovery, preservation, and review processes for matters involving 9/11 first responders. His early career experiences set the stage for a lifelong dedication to merging legal expertise with cutting-edge technology.
Bellack has adeptly combined his passion for building client relationships with his interest in technology throughout his career. He discussed the significant changes he’s witnessed in the industry, particularly the exponential growth in data volumes and the surprising expansion of managed review services. Bellack highlights the unexpected demand for contract attorneys in regulatory and other matters, stating, “A lot of people thought that the need for contract attorneys would stabilize or drop as technology got more involved in eDiscovery. But, what’s happened is that there’s been a growth of different areas where contract attorneys are required, like in regulatory matters.”
Since joining HaystackID earlier this year, Bellack has been impressed by the company’s leadership and expert team. He speaks highly of the team’s capabilities, mentioning their support of four simultaneous Second Requests with nearly 3000 reviewers available. Beyond his professional achievements, Bellack is also a film enthusiast, drawing inspiration from his close relationship with his father. Listen to the full episode to learn more about Bellack’s career journey, his approach to tackling complex client challenges, and his surprising favorite film.
