HaystackID is pleased to collaborate with the EDRM on their informative podcast, Illumination Zone. The seventeenth episode in HaystackID’s monthly contribution to the successful EDRM global podcast series features an insightful conversation with HaystackID’s Director of Forensics, Rene Novoa, the EDRM’s CEO and Chief Legal Technologist, Mary Mack, and Chief Strategy Officer, Kaylee Walstad.
In this HaystackID Illumination Zone podcast, Novoa shared how starting his career in data discovery helped him understand human behavior and how he went from helping people restore everything from family photos to their taxes to assisting law enforcement with cases. From there, Novoa detailed how he got into forensics and the latest challenges in the mobile forensics space, such as the growing intersection of business and personal data.
Throughout the conversation, Novoa detailed the pressing challenge that mobile investigators face, especially with maintaining an individual’s privacy and security while getting the most data possible. During the podcast, Novoa said, “If you go to the store and leave your phone, there’s panic mode. I can only imagine how people feel when I say, ‘You have a large phone, and we’re doing a full fossil extraction that will take 8-9 hours.’ It is our job to come up with tools and methodologies that elevate the user experience and accomplish the job.”
