Legal teams are racing against tighter deadlines while managing exponentially growing data volumes and client demands for faster, more precise outcomes. Expectations are rising, timelines are tightening, and technologies like generative AI (GenAI) are shifting what it means to deliver results. But cutting-edge tools are only as powerful as the people who wield them strategically. It takes both groundbreaking solutions and real innovators who know how to bridge the gap between ambition and execution, and those who see friction as an opportunity and change as a collective endeavor.

This year, HaystackID has several finalists recognized in the Relativity Innovation Awards.

The legal industry needs technology and champions who can maneuver this complexity, and that’s exactly what the Relativity Innovation Awards recognize. These awards spotlight the solutions and legal innovators who aren’t just keeping pace with industry evolution; they’re defining its future direction. Whether by reshaping client service, rethinking workplace inclusion, or reimagining legal education, these visionaries are setting the standard for what great looks like in our field.

Meet some of the standout finalists:

Best Innovation: Organize

HaystackID CoreFlex

HaystackID CoreFlex has been named a finalist for the Relativity Best Innovation Awards in the category of Best Innovation: Organize. This recognition highlights how CoreFlex turns manual, fragmented processes into a unified, automated interface that delivers clarity, consistency, and control for legal teams.

Legal teams juggle dozens of workspaces, bounce between platforms for basic tasks, and waste hours on manual processes that should take minutes. The bigger the organization, the more chaotic it gets—different departments running separate instances, inconsistent workflows, and no clear view of what’s happening where. Our experts built CoreFlex to end the platform ping-pong. Instead of logging into multiple systems to create matters, manage users, ingest data, and pull reports, legal teams get one interface that talks to every Relativity environment they use. CoreFlex’s API integration runs deep, orchestrating tasks across workspaces without the constant system-switching that kills productivity. Teams automate what used to require manual uploads, enforce consistent governance standards, and pull real-time insights from any connected workspace. When priorities shift—and they always do—organizations can seamlessly move between self-managed operations and full-service support without breaking stride.

The results speak clearly. Global enterprises are processing data 35% faster. Defense contractors are managing secure access across Relativity Server, RelativityOne, and FedRAMP environments from a single dashboard. Legal teams finally have the operational clarity to make quick, confident decisions about their data instead of getting lost in the administrative weeds. CoreFlex connects the dots between what legal teams need to accomplish and how technology can actually help them get there.

Best Innovator: Customer Experience

Kristin Lindsey

Vice President of Client Services, HaystackID

In an industry where speed and precision make all the difference, Kristin Lindsey is quietly redefining what great client service looks like. As Vice President of Client Services, Kristin doesn’t just talk about reducing friction; she builds the systems that eliminate it.

From her early work learning Relativity from the ground up, Kristin understood the value of transparency and control in high-pressure legal environments. That mindset shaped the development of Master Tracker: a visual reporting system embedded directly into Relativity, providing clients with real-time access to matter metrics—no more waiting for Excel reports or chasing updates.

She also played a pivotal role in launching CoreFlex™, HaystackID’s unified interface that allows legal teams to switch seamlessly between self-service and full-service support. And she didn’t stop at product innovation. Kristin tackled the back-end processes that often create client pain points, billing, reporting, and SLA tracking, integrating automation and clarity every step of the way.

What sets Kristin apart is her ability to see around corners. She anticipates client needs before they arise and builds solutions that scale across teams, platforms, and priorities. Her impact is visible in every high-stakes migration she’s led, every cross-functional collaboration she’s shaped, and every client who now feels more in control of their data. She’s not just elevating customer experience; she’s redefining the standard for trust and transparency in legal services.

Best Innovator: Inclusion

Pamela Bartlett

Chief People Officer, HaystackID

Inclusion isn’t a buzzword at HaystackID; it’s a foundation. And Pamela Bartlett is the architect behind it.

When Pam joined the company in 2017, there was no formal HR department. Today, HaystackID has a thriving, people-first culture shaped by her leadership. Pam helped launch affinity groups, mentoring programs, and diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives that bring employees together across functions and time zones. She co-founded our DEIB program, helped stabilize mental health communities during the pandemic, and continues to ensure every team member feels seen, supported, and valued.

Her approach blends empathy with execution. Pam’s initiatives aren’t just heartfelt; they’re scalable and strategic. From career pathing programs to culture-building campaigns, she’s made inclusion not just part of the conversation but part of every interaction.

Pam’s excellence lies in her ability to drive real change while remaining deeply personal in her approach. Her programs are rooted in trust but built for longevity—designed to evolve with the company, not just respond to the moment. By treating every voice as vital and every employee as a contributor to culture, Pam has created a workplace where people don’t just show up; they belong.

As Vazantha Meyers, Vice President of Discovery Services at HaystackID and winner of the 2024 Relativity Innovation Award for Inclusion, shared: “Pam is the epitome of inclusion: a leader who ensures every voice is heard, valued, and empowered. Her dedication to fostering a culture of belonging at Haystack is nothing short of inspirational. When our employees needed advocacy, Pam stepped forward with unwavering commitment. She took the initiative to elevate their voices, ensuring they had a seat at the table in shaping solutions. She listens deeply, acts with purpose, and empowers employees in ways that benefit the entire community. Because of her, we grow stronger together. We also, collectively, have her back in return.”

Best Innovator: Legal Education

Dr. Roee Shraga

Assistant Professor, Worcester Polytechnic Institute

The future of legal tech starts in the classroom, and Dr. Roee Shraga is showing us what that future can look like. In a yearlong research collaboration supported by HaystackID and Relativity, Dr. Shraga partnered with industry experts, including John Brewer, HaystackID’s Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer and Chief Data Scientist, and Aron Ahmadia, Senior Director of Applied Science at Relativity, to guide a group of WPI undergraduates through an ambitious exploration of how Large Language Models (LLMs) can improve topic detection in eDiscovery.

With direct mentorship and access to real-world legal questions, Dr. Shraga helped students develop a working prototype that allows users to upload documents and receive real-time topic classifications from top-performing LLMs like Claude 3.7 Sonnet. Their project earned WPI’s top Data Science award and generated critical insights into GenAI performance, model confidence, and AI benchmarking across legal workflows.

Dr. Shraga’s innovation is about more than curriculum; it’s about mentorship that transforms lives. He doesn’t just train data scientists—he nurtures ethical problem-solvers ready to tackle the legal industry’s most complex challenges. Through this collaboration, he demonstrated what’s possible when academic institutions, legal tech leaders, and student talent unite with a shared purpose. His work has already influenced how the legal community approaches GenAI in discovery, and the students he’s mentored will carry that impact far into the future.

Looking Ahead to Relativity Fest
