[Webcast] Trade Fraud Investigation Best Practices (October 7, 2026)
[Webcast] Trade Fraud Investigation Best Practices (October 7, 2026)
The U.S. Department of Justice and other federal enforcement agencies have launched a new initiative to investigate and prosecute customs fraud. Recent settlements, fines, and criminal sentences have caused companies that import goods into the United States to evaluate their supply chain integrity and prepare for investigations and litigation related to trade fraud.
This webinar will discuss best practices for corporate in-house lawyers and compliance professionals, and outside counsel representing corporations and individuals, in conducting internal investigations and responding to government investigations of potential trade fraud. Legal experts will cover the people, process, and technology that are required to achieve effectiveness and efficiency at each stage of a trade fraud investigation, especially by deploying new AI technology to streamline processes and reduce delays and costs for corporate clients.
Key takeaways:
- The federal statutes and regulations establishing civil and criminal liability and penalties for trade fraud.
- The major types of trade fraud uncovered in prior prosecutions relating to antidumping and countervailing duties, tariff and duty transshipment schemes, false declaration schemes, product substitution schemes, and weight skimming schemes.
- Government requirements and expectations for subpoena and civil investigative demand (CID) response, cooperation, investigation, and settlement, including deferred prosecution agreements.
