Artificial intelligence offers tremendous opportunities for lawyers involved in criminal litigation to reduce costs, increase efficiencies and improve quality in their matters. This panel will discuss how AI can be used by prosecutors and defense counsel to improve how research and writing, discovery, and transcription and court reporting are conducted. We will also discuss application of the rules of criminal procedure governing discovery, and the rules of professional responsibility for counsel in criminal litigation, to the use of AI, especially with respect to counsel’s duties of supervision and independent professional judgment.
