SUMMARY:[Webcast] Today’s Privacy Reality: AI\, Assessments\, Breach and DSARs (February 15\, 2023)
DESCRIPTION:HaystackID Educational Webcast \n\n \nToday’s Privacy Reality: AI\, Assessments\, Breach and DSARs is a webcast that will bring together a panel of experts to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on privacy and cybersecurity. The panel will address the ways in which AI is being used to assess privacy risks\, prevent data loss\, and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs). \nThe panel will begin by discussing the role of AI in assessing privacy risks. This is an increasingly important task in today’s world\, where the amount of data being collected and stored by organizations continues to grow. AI algorithms can help organizations identify potential privacy risks and take steps to mitigate them. For example\, an AI system might be able to analyze data sets to identify patterns that could indicate a potential privacy risk\, such as a customer’s personal information being shared without their consent. \nNext\, the panel will discuss the use of AI in preventing data loss. Data breaches are a growing concern for organizations of all sizes\, and AI can play a role in helping to prevent them. For example\, AI algorithms can be used to monitor network activity for signs of a potential breach\, such as an unusual spike in data traffic or the use of unauthorized protocols. If a breach is detected\, the AI system can alert security personnel and take steps to prevent the loss of data. \nFinally\, the panel will discuss the role of AI in responding to DSARs. DSARs are requests from individuals for access to the personal data that organizations hold about them. This can be a time-consuming process for organizations\, particularly if they receive a large number of DSARs. AI can help streamline the process by automating the search for relevant data and providing the necessary information to individuals in a timely manner. \nThis one-hour educational webcast will provide valuable insight into the ways in which AI is being used to address key issues in the realm of privacy and cybersecurity. The panel will discuss the benefits and challenges of using AI in this context\, and offer practical advice for organizations looking to incorporate AI into their privacy and cybersecurity strategies. \n\nExpert Panelists \nChristopher Wall\nDPO and Special Counsel for Global Privacy and Forensics\nHaystackID \n \nChris Wall is DPO and Special Counsel for Global Privacy & Forensics at HaystackID. SUMMARY:[Webcast] Data Mining in Incident Response: Managing Risk and Spend through an Effective Evidence-Based Approach
DESCRIPTION:HaystackID Educational Webcast \n\n\n\nData mining has increasingly become one of the largest expenses during a cyber incident\, often leaving claims professionals with blown budgets and insured clients in high-risk scenarios when assumptions about their data (and what may lurk within) dictate the operationalized response towards providing notice to affected parties after a breach. \nA lack of standards amongst breach coaches\, claims professionals\, and the vendors who consult on and perform data mining work has resulted in an unmanageable situation for insurers\, despite there being repeatable\, defensible methods to stage\, understand\, and act on sensitive data utilizing workflows that are established in the scientific method and eDiscovery in general during litigation. \nThis session will highlight the risks of over and under notice of impacted individuals in a cyber incident and will discuss key checkpoints ahead of and throughout the data mining process\, while giving claims professionals a new understanding of the types of levers they should be pulling internally at their organizations\, and with their partners to optimize\, manage\, and establish repeatable processes with a special focus on the below underlying themes: \n\n* Whether to provide individual notice under data breach law requires understanding some key facts: whose data is at issue? Where are they (in what jurisdiction)? What data is at issue? How (and to what degree) was the data compromised. \n* When unstructured data is compromised\, this requires identifying the who\, where and what of the data through cyber review. Making assumptions about the data (even informed assumptions based on SMEs) will inevitably lead to over and under inclusive notice. PII and PHI can creep into places (and be missing from others). \n* Over notice creates risk as it inflates the scope of the breach unnecessarily damaging the brand and making the incident more attractive for litigation. \n* Under notice is worse as it can lead to questions about the sufficiency and completeness of the notice and remediation steps. Attacking the completeness of the notice allows plaintiff counsel to open a new front in their litigation. \n\nExpert Panelists \nMike Sarlo\n \nChief Innovation Officer\, President of Global Investigations and Cyber Incident Response Services\, HaystackID \nMike\, as Chief Innovation Officer\, works closely with HaystackID’s software development and data science teams to deliver best-in-class data collection\, eDiscovery\, and review solutions that allow legal teams to act on data types typically not conducive to collection\, review\, or production in the context of eDiscovery.
